Like any endeavor that is both art and science, recording is a craft. These days anyone with even a small budget can acquire some recording gear; the larger question is, what does one do with that gear to get great sounds? At Crafted Recordings, we have more than two decades of experience in audio, recording, engineering, acoustics, and listening.
Crafted Recordings is a quality, on-location recording service based in southern Maine. We specialize in recording music performances, from rock bands, to solo singer/songwriters, to jazz ensembles, to church choirs, to capturing any sound performance. Our recording rig is highly customized, ever-evolving, and (reasonably) portable. We come to you, to your space, where you are comfortable, and can be set up ready for microphone placement within a matter of minutes. We also have our own acoustically-treated, highly flexible room useful for both recording and mixing.
At present, we have the capability to record 16 tracks of live, 24-bit audio. During recording, we can provide up to 5 unique headphone mixes for each of the performers (though in many cases headphones aren’t needed, recording a gig, for instance). We record direct to computer, and can provide raw tracks of the performance for you to mix yourself or we can mix and master your recording for you.
We have a wide variety of condenser, ribbon, and dynamic microphones at our disposal, and more importantly the knowledge and experience, to get a great sound every time.
Whether you want to record an album for your band, a demo for getting gigs, record a live show, make a holiday CD for your church choir, help or tutorials on using your own recording gear, we will work with you to get a great sound every time. Contact us right away to schedule a session.
About the Owner/Operator
Crafted Recordings is owned/operated by James Lindenschmidt. James is a musician and has been recording audio for as long as he can remember; one of his earliest memories is hanging a cassette deck microphone over his Fisher-Price record player to make mix tapes as a child.
